I had shoulder length hair at the time and after looking into this and learning that they could only accept hair that had not been chemically treated and that the ponytails must be at least 12" in length because they lose 2" during processing, I was compelled to grow my hair out and it was down to my waist at the time it was cut last month. I am proud of this choice I made and the point of making this page is to encourage and educate others who might want to donate their hair as well. I restrained myself from coloring it or getting a perm so that I would be certain mine would be hair that would get used in a wig for some child who needed a self-esteem boost, that having a decent wig offers these kids. I am posting the information on how to get in touch with them in hopes that many others who have never colored or permed their hair and are tiring of dealing with having it so long, might consider this option. If you would like to be part of making a child's dream of fitting in come true I urge you to be part of this great chairty's efforts to help as many kids as they can. They need longer ponytails to make longer wigs for little girls who want to have longer hair and mine measured about 16". I hope you enjoy seeing the pictures of my holding it with my new short haircut, before I sent it off as I really wanted to make a nice page for people to visit and see the joy it brought me to be part of making a young child happy. It takes about 10 ponytails together to make one wig, so if my hair doesn't go too gray as I let it grow out I might send off another one in a few years!
