I created Yugi's Lair because I really enjoy the animated series and the manga for this interesting story. I first discovered Yu-Gi-Oh! last year when it was airing at 9:30 pm EST on Cartoon Network and I found it to be pretty interesting. I have always enjoyed 'Egyptology' and seeing the show incorporating that into a really cool animated series, I was instantly hooked. My son is the one who controls the living room television and together we watched as Yugi battled his way through the Duelist Kingdom to rescue his grandfather. We saw him reach his breaking point in a pivotal duel on the castle's rooftop, with Seto Kaiba. The overly confident technical genius bet his life on the fact that the holographic attack Yugi was about to do would knock him off the roof of Pegasus's castle. Pegasus had his little brother's soul trapped like he had Yugi's Grandpa's soul trapped. Seto knew he had to beat Yugi in order to get a chance to save Mokuba, his little brother. Seto knew Yugi was too good of a person to allow real harm to come to him or anyone else as a result of a duel and actions taken by him or the spirit of the puzzle; Yami-Yugi, which it still seems he denies the existance of even though he witnesed Pegasus's shadow powers wtih his Milleniuim Eye.
I think that there are aspects of this show that might make it an older kids show, but I don't think that cartoons are just for kids either. I long have enjoyed cartoons and that love never left me as I've come into adulthood. This show is one that I have learned evolved from a 'manga comic series' of Japanese origin, specifically the artistic mind of Kazuki Takahashi. As a fan of the old Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comics and animated show, I understand why they feel they need to alter the content of the series to be less violent. But at the same time I would enjoy seeing this show uncut and subtitled, although it would and should have a appropriate rating. There is a petition regarding this you can sign here if you agree that the US should have access to either DVD or VHS releases of the original uncut episodes of Yu-Gi-Oh!
I am planning on making my own replica of a millennium puzzle just because I know I can make something really cool that my son and I will enjoy having around, like we do the Duel Monsters cards. When I do create the replica I plan on taking digital pictures to document the process so others might make their own millennium puzzle, since the only ones I have seen are trophies for tournament winners, this will be my only way to get my hands on one. And I would like to be able to share the process with other fans who might wish to try to duplicate and make their own puzzle.
I have all four starter decks, not that I would actually duel in a formal tournament. I just wanted to have the cards to enjoy and collect. I had read that there were plans to discontinue making the starter decks, so that prompted me to grab them off the local Wal-Mart's shelves. Hard to describe the feeling of holding your own Dark Magician card or Gia the Fierce Knight and Curse of Dragon cards. Not to mention the Blue Eyes White Dragon card that comes with the Kaiba starter deck.
The point of having Yugi's Lair as part of Cyber-Soup is to share my enjoyment of the series and collecting the cards of Duel Monsters cards with other fans of the show. I hope that other fans will join in on the Yugi's Lair message board, as we all watch the new and exciting adventures of Yugi, Joey, Mai, Tea', Tristan, and Seto. Any fans of this really unique series are welcome to join in. Registration is easy and confidential-you will get your password moments from submitting your desired username. To use the Chat and Calender links here you have to have a Best Boards username and be logged into it or else you can't chat or view the calender.
This message board host is really the best out there, hence the name Best Boards. Since the board has done so well, (thanks Yami, Lunar L, shade & others) I have made it advertisement free so I hope you will enjoy the board as much as I know I am and will continue to do so. The features on these boards are really wicked cool, so if you are looking for a new place to talk about your favorite series, Yu-Gi-Oh! then drop by Yugi's Lair and join in the fun! If we can get some more interested people we will form our own little Yugioh gaming league. You can read about this here and join in the discussion.
